with trucks! Those of you who follow my adventures with boys will have seen that as of last week there was a mutiny in our home. Charley was having no more of the crafting that I subject him to dream up for him.
But then, somehow, after days of asking, "Do you want to paint with your trucks today?" he finally said, "yeah." And you know what? When I dragged all the stuff out, he still wanted to paint!
After we realized, later than many people, apparently, that painting with vehicles is awesome we decided we needed more paper, and fast. So we broke out the roll from Ikea (one of the best purchases I ever made, btw.) As I was taping it to the table, Charley wanted to make some roads out of tape. Do you see what's happening here? He's busting out his creative side! The boy can still be creative! With materials of my choosing! For a long time!
Then he spread the paint out (with our blender spatula, because our ink roller is in the basement...)
And then he drove cars and trucks around that paper for. ev. er. It was SO MUCH FUN!
Do you see how cool this activity is? The truck's wheels pick up the top layer of paint, revealing the bottom color. I highly recommend using trucks with treads on them. I got really into this, in case you can't tell from my tone. I'll have to hold back buying trucks just based on the wheels.
I think in the summer we might do this outside with really big trucks. I think we'll keep trying some of the crafty boys' activities I've found online. Next up? I'm thinking potato stamp cities (with lots of vehicles, obviously)! Wish me luck!
